I'm trying to stay off social networks, but occasionally people DM me on LinkedIn, I get an email, log in, and inevitably have a quick scroll of my home feed.
So I saw this by Dave Gray, who is absolutely correct when it comes to "having a job" vs. "running your own business or being a freelancer/contractor/entrepreneur". You can see the risk in the latter situation, whereas it's entirely hidden from you in the former.
…Obvious, but worth saying: LLMs, and the people prompting them, still require tacit knowledge and domain expertise to produce something useful and worthwhile. That's why I've been building stuff that solves problems for me – because I know what's 'correct' for my situation.
…The blog that I referenced in my last note uses the 'Terminus' theme for Zola, a "fast static site generator in a single binary with everything built-in."
I like the aesthetic, and it turns out that it was influenced by other themes which are also worth exploring:
…While I'm not sure that 'dopamine fracking' is the term for this, it's nevertheless a decent analysis of what's going on. (One of the terms they consider and reject is 'sloptimisation' - a term I also used in a post exactly a month ago.)

This is an interesting view:
A lot of companies make money because their customers can’t be bothered to monitor them more closely, or to insource something. Customers let the company make some money in exchange for doing a decent-enough job and making the problem go away.

I remember watching Inside by Bo Burnham during the pandemic and being very impressed by his creativity. This is right up there with that, a genius mix of comedy, storytelling, revelation, and music.

I didn't know La Tour Triangle was being built and now, apparently, it's "topped out" (which I assume means reached maximum height). Here it is on Google Maps.
