Ambiguity and artefacts

Notes updated
Creative process flow diagram

Despite their different framing, thinkers like Tharp, Kleon, Pressfield and Rubin... all describe roughly similar (or subsets of) aspects outlined by Csikszentmihalyi:

Preparation → Incubation → Insight → Evaluation → Elaboration → Sharing

– Gaby De Freitas

This is interesting, as it maps onto my continuum of ambiguity. Unlike De Freitas, I'm pretty comfortable with intellectual and creative ambiguity (unlike, for example, relationship or status ambiguity) but I've realised that one of the reasons that I created this space (Substrate) was because I wanted less 'evaluation' and 'elaboration' and more 'preparation' and 'incubation'.

The only thing I'd query with her diagram is 'share' being at the end of the creative process. I've always been an advocate for working openly, sharing both the half-baked ideas and the fully-baked goods.
