Reflections updated

It's a bit of a coincidence that the main protagonist in both the last book I read and the current book I'm reading are both the same age as me. Our Man in Havana by Graham Greene was absolutely fantastic, and I'm enjoying the modern James Bond novel Solo by William Boyd so far.

Would I have enjoyed reading these books when I was younger? Probably. But there's something about reading about a character that's the same age and gender as you that draws you in. Wormold, in Our Man in Havana has a 17 year-old daughter, Milly, and my daughter is 15. I'm not going to compare myself to James Bond, but I think most men naturally have some affinity with that kind of lifestyle...
